Review of concert in Magasinet, October 4th

Saybia… Not a goodbye… But see you later

Saturday, October 4th, Magasinet in Odense, 21:00, concert with Saybia, support Blake.

About the band Blake, it can be said short… Prostitution… music  before to many times before, like an old sweater back of the wardrobe you don’t want to wear, but neither wan’t to throw out. The leadsinger, Mathilde Lunderskov looked like a cheap version of the dancers in a strip<club in a small provincial town. Mathilde should concentrate more on the songs, and not to twist her body in erotic positions. If this band shall have a future, they should strongly consider, whether it is music or strip clubs, they shall rely on.

Saybia led us through their catalog of hits, a catalog that is so large, that it should take more than 7 years to released the music. Magasinet The magazine the intimate size of the venue, reminded me of my first concert with Saybia in Nyborg Kino in the bands younger days.

Søren Huss started as usual with closed eyes, despite he has nothing to fear from the audiences side, in calm style, easily conversating with the audience and rubbing in the beard, he led us with a confident vocal through the Saybia-universe. Sebastian drove a solid guitar, which switch from electric to acoustic never gets boring to listen to, a steady flow of lubricated guitar. Whether it was the transition in the keyboard that got Jess’s body to pull in rhythmic convulsions, or empathy for the music, I cannot say, but wauw there was played something happy organ. Jeppe and Palle, respectively on bass and drums, not a bad word about your efforts, quite the opposite, but it was not much we saw of you behind the lights and smoke. But that is typical of Saybia, no one steps in front alone in the prestigious spot to take out a figurehead, Saybia is as ONE living organism, everyone is necessary.

I strongly doubt if this the end of Saybia. A band that has come so far in so short time, may need a break to stop accumulate… so thanks for some fantastic years and concert at Magasinet.

MANY THANKS… AND, SEE YOU.
