The band from Funen has made it’s first album in eight years.
When a personal tragedy hit Saybias lead singer Søren Huss in 2007, it ment a stop with one of Denmark’s most successful bands.
Huss processed the grief and found a new, necessary reflection with two Danish-language boards ‘Troen & Ingen’ and ‘Oppefra & Ned’. Now Saybia is back together and releases their first album in eight years.
The sound has matured tremendously. ‘No Sound From The Outside’ recorded in the legendary Ocean View studio is darker and fuller in sound and the tempo is thoughtfully. The music is – as always – exemplary thoroughly prepared and carried out with all possible care. The American producers Michael Patterson and Nic Jodoin has delivered a nice, glossy production with an adult cut that concentrates on the strongest tracks, ‘No Sound From The Outside’, ‘Black Hole’ and ‘It’s Been Way Too Long’.
The Coldplay echo ‘Hollow Is Your Promise’ and the overplayed ballad ‘I’m Still Waiting’ puts the finger on the old sore spot.
Saybia is skilled and dedicated, but has more pathos than originality. ‘No Sound From The Outside’ is solid mainstream rock that dare to take chances in the more severe end of the spectrum. It may well be enough for a warm reception, particularly in the German-speaking countries.
